Anonymous asked: I love exploring fashion and trying out different looks just like you, but I'm too shy to be a model and pose for photos like you. How did you overcome this? And, how did you dress up when you were a teenager, what stye did you like then?
Well, being more confident is something that can’t be taught, it’s very personnal ! Trying on more daring outfits and finding your own personnal style is important for self-confidence because it lets you express yourself through the clothes. Your clothes can be your “shield” against all these people that scare you, and after some time, you don’t even care about chat others might think. When I walk down the streets, I look at my feet so I don’t see the staring people, and when I shoot, I take off my glasses so I don’t see them. If you care about the judgment of others, you’ll end up doing nothing, and be frustrated like those who spend their time critizicing, (because deep down, they whish they could be different and daring too.). I’m so used to see pictures of myself that I don’t even care about my appearance, it’s hard to describe but now when I look at a picture I look at everything but my face. When I shoot the photographers that don’t know me well zoom on my face when they show me the pictures and I’m like “no I want to see the composition, the settings, ect..not my face !”
When I was a teenager I dressed like a punk end it helped A LOT to express myself and to be more confident because my vlothes were like a strong armor. I remember the first day when I said “I don’t give a fuck, I want to dress like I want”, it was hard because everybody was staring at me, but I decided to not give a damn, and after that feeling of embarassement totally went away !
I couldn’t have said it better.
